FLEDGE is a non-profit trust established in November 2014 to work on a array of issues.
Fostering Sustainable Development
The core focus of FLEDGE would be fostering sustainable environment and development laws and policies within a larger framework of good governance.
In particular, FLEDGE will work towards human resource development, capacity building and awareness raising on issues of law, environment, development and governance using research and analysis as the basic tools combined with field analyses, as needed.
It will also work towards creating and establishing networks and communities of practice to tap uncommon opportunities and to train the next generation of development practitioners using knowledge platforms.
FLEDGE is interested in supporting actions related to environmental law, policy and governance issues with specific focus on science-policy-society interfaces and policy alignment issues.

Law
A large part of FLEDGE’s mission would be in helping review, formulate appropriate laws and policies pertaining to the environment and development. FLEDGE will also seek to foster keener appreciation for these laws and policies through various study and training programmes. The key areas of focus include, environmental law, IPR Law and laws relating to sustainable development .
Development
FLEDGE focuses on supporting actions related to sustainable development through research and analyses in assessing the impacts of actions related to realizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Additionally, FLEDGE will also focus on issues of sustainability by promoting structured intervention options for both public and private sectors.
Environment
FLEDGE attempts to provide a pro-active policy platform for environmental management issues including biodiversity, climate change, marine resource management and food security. The focus of work includes assessment of options for effective implementation of current policy frameworks and suggest means to pro-active and inclusive development of environmental management frameworks.
Governance
Supporting development of appropriate Governance systems at local, national and international levels is an area of interest for FLEDGE. Current interests in Governance systems include strengthening scidnce policy interfaces, education, empowerment and research on developmental governance
Our Actions
Research and Policy Assessment
FLEDGE focuses on localizing SDGs and policy papers on coherent approaches to realizing the SDGs. The work supports the “SDG Accelerator” proposed by the UN Secretary general.
Assess Environment Frameworks
FLEDGE is interested in supporting actions related to environmental law, policy and governance issues with specific focus on science-policy-society interfaces and policy alignment issues.
Training and Capacity Building
FLEDGE will impart structured and strategic training programmes to increase the impact of its work. A series of capacity building programmes on biodiversity, IPR, climate change laws will be organized in India.
