Forum for Law Environment Development
and Governance
FLEDGE is a non-profit trust established in
November 2014 to work on a array of issues pertaining to the law, environment, development and governance. The core focus of FLEDGE would be fostering sustainable environment and development laws and policies within a larger framework of good governance.
In particular, FLEDGE will work towards human resource development, capacity building and awareness raising on issues of law, environment, development and governance using research and analysis as the basic tools combined with field analyses, as needed.

FLEDGE Constitution
FLEDGE has been established in November 2014. FLEDGE is registered as a Non-for-Profit Trust in Chennai, India with the following as Founding Trustees:
- Mrs. Annapurna Pisupati (Managing Trustee)
- Dr. Shamnad Basheer
- Dr. Balakrishna Pisupati
FLEDGE is supported by a set of senior advisors who are international experts on issues of interest to the organization.
FLEDGE is also supported by a set of volunteers who have kindly consented to provide their time and expertise on a pro bono basis.
Currently, FLEDGE is interested in seeking volunteers to help with English language editing of its reports and briefs. In case you are interested to provide your services and/or expertise, please send a mail to [email protected].
Opportunities
Internships
FLEDGE offers limited opportunities for students to undertake internships. Those interested can send their resume along with a one-page write up of their research interest to [email protected]

FLEDGE is currently accepting internships in the areas of Biodiversity Law, IPRs and Sustainability Studies.
Next round of internships opening in August 2024 and will focus on Climate Change Law, Marine Law and Local Governance

FLEDGE is a non-profit trust aimed to enhance capacities of future generation of students and scholars in a manner they support better management of our environment and achieve sustainable development.
Activities undertaken by FLEDGE need your support. Your support can be in the following ways:
- Funds for capacity building and awareness rising programmes
- Funds for supporting FLEDGE interns and scholars through Scholarships and Fellowships
- Funds for training activities
- Participation in FLEDGE programme by providing your expertise, time and support in mentoring students and scholars, organizing training and capacity building programmes
- Contributing to FLEDGE website maintenance and establishing on-line training and mentoring programs
- Collaborate with FLEDGE by supporting its actions on research and outreach by becoming a part of the writing and analytical team(s)
- Providing guidance and suggestions for State level programmes of FLEDGE in India
