Research and Policy Assessment

The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD – Rio +20) adopted the outcome document titled, “The Future We Want” and associated Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) along with 17 Targets. FLEDGE focuses on localizing SDGs and policy papers on coherent approaches to realizing the SDGs. The work supports the “SDG Accelerator” proposed by the UN Secretary general.

Developing and Assessing Environment Frameworks

FLEDGE is interested in supporting actions related to environmental law, policy and governance issues with specific focus on science-policy-society interfaces and policy alignment issues.

Training

FLEDGE will impart structured and strategic training programmes to increase the impact of its work. As a part of this, the following training programmes are currently being developed. These programmes will be offered during the first quarter of 2025.
a. Training Programme for Legal Counsels and Practitioners on Environmental Law
b. Training Programme on Environmental Sustainability for Corporate Sector
c. Structured internship programmes will be offered to students from legal and non-legal backgrounds to work on environmental law and policy.

Capacity Building

A series of capacity building programmes on biodiversity, IPR, climate change laws will be organized in India in collaboration with National Law Schools and Private Universities. The aim of these programmes will be to attract senior university students with diverse academic streams to think and work on issues of the environment and development.
